Hamper Delights and Christmas Preparations

Hamper Delights and Christmas Preparations

On Monday, we were delighted to present Rebecca from Claythorpe Mill with the lovely Lincolnshire Hamper. We would like to thank everyone who has become a Friend of South Ormsby. The hamper prize draw was really well received and we want to thank everyone for their lovely comments and competitive spirit. Rebecca says the hamper will be well appreciated by her family and shared and enjoyed over the festive season. You can always visit Claythorpe Mill, which has a watermill, restaurant, wildfowl, and other unusual animals, between March and October.

Thank you to Andy and his staff at the Massingberd Arms for putting on our lovely staff Christmas dinner on Thursday night. The dinner was a lovely treat and it was followed by a tricky Lincolnshire themed quiz set by Joe and Leanne. The Massingberd Arms certainly gave us that cosy Christmas feeling and being part of a local community does too.

It’s a time when you really appreciate your friends and family and remember those less fortunate than ourselves. We are big supporters of the Salvation Army and items such as our old blankets are always given over to Book Volunteer, Richard who takes them to the Grimsby Salvation Army to help the homeless.

Some of us went to help clean St Leonard’s Church up this weekend. It was ‘Spring Cleaned’ ready for being decorated for Christmas. We are all looking forward to the Christmas Eve Carol Service which is at 6.30pm

The new gate at the Walled Garden

The paths to the Kitchen Garden being repaired

Back at the Hall, the gate in the walled garden is now fully installed and looks really beautiful. We have also had the kitchen table back which has been returned to its former glory and is now smoother and cleaner. Andy, our painter and decorator has also returned to do a bit more painting!

There has also been a lot of activity with the gravel arriving to finish off Miss Anne’s Garden and the men also came to fix the path in the kitchen garden.
