What a great week – starting with the Newark Riverside Festival, moving on to the Lincolnshire Show and finishing with visitors to the estate from America and Canada.
The weather was kind to us at Newark and we enjoyed listening to the live music with the back drop of the Castle and River. Bit of a late night but well worth it.
Of course we always go to the Lincolnshire Show and this year it did not disappoint. It was a bit hot for the animals on the first day but such a fabulous event showing off all the best about Lincolnshire. We bumped into a lot of people that are supporting development at South Ormsby and particularly enjoyed tasting Amy Jobe’s Russet beef.
It is great that we can show off our county and small local events like Brinkhill Open Gardens Sunday 2nd July and hopefully our own Garden Party on the 15th contribute to this as well.
Our American and Canadian visitors were certainly enjoying their vacation and seeing Lincoln Reds in their true setting. Cattle were their passion and they were very interested in our herd and other similar ones in Lincolnshire as well of course as a tour of the Hall and locality. We gave them lunch in the dining room ( see preparation photographs above) and treated them to dinner at the Massingberd Arms, so we hope we did our bit for intercontinental relations!
On a more domestic slant the grass is long – very long – particularly the field at the front. It’s an ongoing battle cutting and mowing! Maybe the answer is the robotic lawn mowers that we saw at the Lincolnshire Show.
