The draining board is back! What would we do without local craftsman? – especially with a house like this – impressive and prestigious – but always needing little things doing to it before we begin to tackle the big ones and as a Grade II star listed property they have to be done right.
Our team of architects has expanded and we are again grateful for the fact that we have experts on hand even if they do have to journey from far and wide. We don’t think they mind coming though – it takes them out of the hustle and bustle to an idyllic setting in the Wolds; who could complain? We try to keep them well sustained whist they are here with sandwiches and coffee and we do think they like the fact that our eggs come from the chickens who roam around the walled garden.
The torrential rain and wind has given the garden a bit of a battering but it seems to have rallied. The babbling beck that runs through the gardens got a bit racier and our Steward had to contend with small ponds in the courtyard rather than the normal puddles. Heh ho! That’s just British weather – it didn’t seem to bother the cows and it showed that the Hall roofs and windows are now water tight when in the past water has got in and done quite a bit of damage.
