A Week on the Estate: Storm Darcy, New Lake & Raw Hands
Given the bracing winter weather we’re all enduring, it’s hard to believe that meteorological spring is only a fortnight away. Even though winter is still showing its fangs, the snowdrops are blooming, the days are getting longer and the birds are in full song.
First we had a gorgeous blanket of snowdrops in our woodlands, then we had a blanket of snow. These gorgeous blooms remain undaunted by whatever winter brings, but we can’t avoid the fact that there’s been enough precipitation to saturate the land. Even before Storm Darcy arrived, the Hall had acquired a second lake.
