The recent warmer weather and sunshine has encouraged the aconites and snowdrops which look stunning across the estate and it is strange to think that this time last year we were snowed in and staff were snowed out! The huge circle of flowers under the copper beech at the Rectory makes a stunning sight and leads on to arguably one of the best views in the Wolds.
Ian at Gordon’s garage has been sharing with us some of the old memorabilia his father used when he had a garage. Among the artifacts Ian has are old tools, old car manuals and old containers. Whilst these definitely have a vintage look many are still useful to Ian and his team and he uses some of them on a daily basis. His Haynes manuals are actually stored in his parents’ 1950’s retro Kitchen cabinet complete with pull down breadboard! He does, of course, have all the necessary modern equipment too. He is hoping to bring over his old 1953 Vanguard car soon which he will be stripping down and restoring with help from son, Tom and apprentice, Jay.
