A Week on the Estate: Tidy Church, Restored Wall & Rotary Visit
We’ve had a busy and productive week in the late-summer sunshine.
Thanks to all who helped make St Leonard’s Church at South Ormsby spick and span last Wednesday. A dozen of you answered the call for volunteers and between us we got the job done in a shade under two hours. Jacqui Rhodes came prepared for a serious late-summer clean, and Toby Ridsdale got stuck into the weeds outside.
The Saturday Club is back and there’s never a shortage of useful jobs to crack on with. Not only are these youngsters handy at picking vegetables, clearing ragwort and moving bark chips for the community garden, but they’ve also turned out to be talented turkey whisperers.
The Walled Garden’s 18th-century brickwork has dealt with centuries of British weather. The odd bit of TLC is needed to keep it future-proof, and skilled stonemason Jason Henfrey is the craftsman for the job. Jason has renewed a few courses and is preparing to rebuild the weather-proof top layer.
